Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper and Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
Record daily transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses, and payroll.
Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Process payroll accurately and in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals during audits and tax filings.
Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to streamline accounting procedures.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, preferably in a retail or small business environment.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with hardware store operations and inventory management is a plus.
