The Doctor at the elders' home provides comprehensive medical care and support for elderly residents, focusing on their physical and mental well-being. This role involves routine health assessments, treatment, and medical interventions, with an emphasis on preventive care and managing chronic conditions common among older adults. The Doctor will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that each resident receives the highest standard of compassionate, personalized care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Resident Care and Medical Management:
Conduct initial and routine physical exams for new and current residents, assessing overall health and identifying potential issues.
Develop and implement individualized care plans in coordination with other healthcare providers, addressing both acute and chronic medical needs.
Monitor and manage common geriatric conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and dementia.
Oversee medication management and adjust prescriptions as needed based on ongoing assessments and any changes in health status.
2. Preventive and Palliative Care:
Provide preventive health care services, including vaccinations, screenings, and health education to residents.
Manage and provide guidance on palliative care needs, focusing on comfort, quality of life, and symptom management for residents with terminal or severe conditions.
3. Crisis Intervention and Emergency Care:
Assess and manage medical emergencies, stabilizing residents on-site when possible and coordinating hospital transfers if needed.
Serve as the lead point of contact during medical emergencies, ensuring quick and accurate response and communication with emergency personnel.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with the nursing and caregiving team to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
Communicate regularly with residents’ families to keep them informed about health status, treatment plans, and any significant changes.
Work with external healthcare providers and specialists to coordinate additional care when necessary.
5. Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain detailed, accurate medical records for each resident, including assessments, treatments, medications, and progress.
Ensure all documentation complies with relevant healthcare standards and legal regulations.
Contribute to and comply with health and safety protocols within the home, protecting both residents and staff.
6. Education and Advocacy:
Educate residents, families, and staff on health maintenance, wellness strategies, and aging-related issues.
Advocate for the rights and dignity of elderly residents, supporting their preferences and autonomy in care decisions.
Qualifications:
Education: Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent); Diploma or certification in Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine is an advantage.
Experience: Previous experience working with elderly populations, particularly in a long-term care or geriatric setting, is preferred.
Skills:
Strong clinical skills with an understanding of geriatric medicine.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage empathetically with elderly residents and their families.
Good judgment and problem-solving abilities, especially under emergency conditions.

8am-12pm and 4pm-8pm
