Accounts Executive:
A Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm in New York, USA, is looking for an accounting and finance professional to help with bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, and tax preparation. Over the last decade, the firm has been a prominent provider of financial and tax services, dedicated to increasing clients' financial stability and security through specialized financial planning and tax solutions that produce long-term prosperity.
The successful individual will receive training in US GAAP, accounting, tax legislation, payroll, and financial reporting. Willingness to study, commitment, and dedication are essential. This position is fully remote and works for a CPA firm in New York, USA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Categorize and records bank statement transactions as per the profit & loss statement expense categories
- Prepare bank reconciliations, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets for CPA review
- Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
- Review emails and compile tax information, organize tax folders, input data into the tax software
- Review tax return information for accuracy and completeness and collaborate with CPA and tax clients as necessary to ensure tax filing deadlines.
- Communicate with a diverse range of individuals, families, and business owners on tax issues, getting information on income, expenses, credits, allowances and more
- Maintain and update accounting records and tax files
- Process quarterly payroll and file federal & state payroll tax returns
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual sales tax returns
Job Skills & Qualifications:
- Requirements include a degree in accounting, finance, or business management or partial or full ICASL or CIMA qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of accounting or finance experience. Audit firm experience is a plus
- Knowledge of accounting software is advantageous
- Strong analytical, communication, and customer service abilities, with a focus on detail
- Capable of working under pressure, across time zones, and with flexibility
- Prior back-office work experience or remote work experience is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, computer skills, and data entry
- Willingness to learn and higher standards of commitment
- Ability to ensure strict confidentiality of customer records
- Fluent in English
