At Blue Waves we create unforgettable surf & yoga experiences that build community and respect for nature. Our eco-friendly surf camp is deeply rooted in Sri Lankan culture, and we are now looking for a Local Manager to join our team. As a key figure in our daily operations, you will assist the Camp Manager in running the surfcamp, providing a local perspective, and ensuring our guests experience the very best that Sri Lanka has to offer.
**Key Duties:**
- Ensure guests have an authentic and memorable experience by integrating local culture into their stay.
- Assist the reception staff with check-ins and check-outs, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
- Address guest questions and concerns, acting as a cultural liaison between the camp and guests.
- Assist in recruiting & training local staff to provide excellent service
- Supervise local staff, ensuring they are motivated and well-coordinated with camp activities.
- Help organize staff schedules and ensure local employees feel empowered and supported.
- Coordinate with local suppliers and service providers for camp supplies, transport, and activities.
- Oversee daily operations such as meal services, ensuring smooth delivery and quality.
- Assist with maintaining facilities, working with local service providers to ensure the camp is well-kept.
- Report directly to the Camp Manager and provide regular updates on camp operations.
### This role is for you if:
- Are fluent in English & Sinhalese; additional languages are a plus.
- Have a strong understanding of local culture and customs.
- Have experience in hospitality or tourism (Min 2 years)
- Are able to manage staff and coordinate daily operations effectively.
- You have a positive and adaptable personality, with excellent communication skills.
- You have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- You are ambitious, want to learn to work in an international environment and want to manage a team
- Are looking for a challenge
### This role is NOT for you if:
- You don’t like working don’t like working with people - your main role is working with 3 main stakeholders: guests, staff & providers.
- You need to be told what to do - you need to be highly independent, as you will be responsible for running the camp when the camp manager is absent and need to have a can-do attitude to succeed in this role.
