Unimak is looking for an experienced Press Tool and Die Fitter to join our production team at our facility in Ekala, Ja-Ela.
The selected candidate will be responsible for installing, setting up, maintaining, adjusting, and repairing press tools and dies used on mechanical and hydraulic press machines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install and set up dies, press tools, fixtures, and related equipment on mechanical and hydraulic presses.
• Carry out fitting, alignment, and adjustment work to maintain correct clearances and product dimensions.
• Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on dies, punches, and press tools.
• Identify issues such as misalignment, burrs, uneven wear, and dimensional variations, and take corrective action.
• Safely and accurately use hand tools and measuring instruments, including grinders, files, vernier calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, and dial indicators.
• Assist with die changeovers for different products and support the production team in minimizing machine downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
• Report equipment faults and technical issues to the relevant supervisor.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
• ITI, NVQ, or another recognized vocational qualification in Press Tool and Die Fitting, Tool and Die Making, Mechanical Fitting, or a related mechanical trade.
• One to three years of experience as a Press Tool Fitter, Die Fitter, Tool Room Technician, or in a similar position.
• Fresh ITI or NVQ pass-outs may also be considered for trainee-level opportunities.
Required Skills:
• Strong mechanical fitting and practical hand skills, including filing, grinding, drilling, tapping, and polishing.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
• Basic knowledge of press machines, dies, press tools, and tool room practices.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work in a production and manufacturing environment.
