Female Physiotherapist

The Lady Physiotherapist will provide specialized physical therapy services to elderly residents, focusing on maintaining mobility, enhancing physical strength, reducing pain, and improving overall quality of life. This role requires a compassionate and patient professional dedicated to helping elderly residents manage age-related physical challenges, prevent injury, and promote independence. The physiotherapist will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized therapy programs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assessment and Treatment Planning:

Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to determine each resident’s physical capabilities and limitations.

Develop personalized treatment plans that address the unique needs of elderly residents, focusing on mobility improvement, pain management, and injury prevention.

Reassess and adjust treatment plans regularly based on progress and any changes in the resident's health or abilities.

2. Therapeutic Interventions:

Lead individual and group therapy sessions using exercises, mobility training, and therapeutic techniques to improve physical function.

Utilize specialized equipment and techniques to enhance balance, strength, coordination, and range of motion in elderly residents.

Provide therapeutic massages and pain-relief treatments as appropriate.

3. Fall Prevention and Safety Education:

Educate residents and staff on fall prevention strategies and safe mobility practices.

Teach residents and caregivers techniques to reduce the risk of injury in daily activities.

Conduct regular assessments of the living environment to identify and address potential hazards.

4. Support for Post-Surgical and Chronic Conditions:

Provide rehabilitative care for residents recovering from surgeries, injuries, or stroke, as well as those with chronic conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, and Parkinson’s disease.

Help residents achieve optimal recovery and manage chronic pain through tailored physiotherapy programs.

5. Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with doctors, nurses, caregivers, and family members to provide holistic, coordinated care.

Communicate regularly with families to update them on the resident’s progress and provide guidance on supportive care at home.

Participate in care team meetings to discuss resident progress and adapt interventions as necessary.

6. Documentation and Compliance:

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of each resident's therapy sessions, progress, and any changes in condition.

Ensure compliance with all health and safety protocols within the elders' home, maintaining confidentiality and dignity for all residents.

7. Resident Empowerment and Motivation:

Encourage and motivate residents to participate actively in their therapy to achieve their highest potential.

Foster a positive, supportive environment that empowers residents to gain confidence in their physical abilities.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent from a recognized institution.

License: Valid physiotherapy license to practice in Sri Lanka.

Experience: Previous experience working with elderly patients, particularly in a long-term care or geriatric setting, is highly preferred.

Skills:

Expertise in geriatric physiotherapy and rehabilitation techniques.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.

Ability to demonstrate and guide residents through therapeutic exercises.

Basic knowledge of healthcare software for documenting resident information.

Working Hours: 8am to 4pm

Full-time Monday to Friday, with possible weekend oncalls
