Finance Manager — Jayabima Spices
Location: Kaduwela, Sri Lanka
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Founder / Managing Director
About Us
Jayabima Spices is a Ceylon spice processing and export company specializing in premium cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, and nutmeg for international markets, alongside a growing range of value-added products (chili powder, chili pieces, curry powder) for the local Sri Lankan market. As we expand our export footprint and pursue international certifications and buyer relationships, we're looking for a Finance Manager to bring financial discipline and strategic insight to our growing operation.
Role Overview
The Finance Manager will own the company's financial operations end-to-end — from day-to-day bookkeeping and cash flow management to export costing, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a growing SME environment and wants real ownership over the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, and financial record-keeping
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
Oversee cash flow, working capital, and budgeting across procurement, processing, and export operations
Develop and monitor export costing and pricing models (FOB/CIF, freight, duties, certification costs)
Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and financial institutions, including export financing and LC handling
Ensure compliance with Sri Lankan tax regulations (VAT, income tax, EDB requirements) and statutory filings
Track and reconcile costs related to certifications (e.g., organic, Control Union) and quality compliance programs
Support pricing and margin analysis for new product lines and export markets
Prepare financial data and projections to support award/grant applications (e.g., export incentive programs) and investor or bank discussions
Identify cost efficiencies across sourcing, processing, and logistics
Implement and maintain sound financial controls and reporting systems as the company scales
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; part or full qualification in ACCA/CIMA/CA Sri Lanka preferred
3+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within manufacturing, export, or FMCG/agri-business
Strong understanding of Sri Lankan tax and export regulatory requirements
Experience with export documentation, LCs, and foreign currency transactions is a strong plus
Proficiency in accounting software and Excel/financial modeling
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate numbers into actionable business recommendations
High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work independently in a small-team environment
What We Offer
The opportunity to build and shape the finance function of a fast-growing export business
Direct exposure to international trade, certifications, and buyer relationships
A collaborative, founder-led environment with room for growth as the company scales
