
Supermarket Sales Assistant
We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Sales Assistant to join our supermarket team. In this role, you will be the face of the store, responsible for greeting customers, replenishing stock, and accurately processing payments at the checkout. Key Responsibilities
Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer product inquiries, and assist shoppers in locating items across the aisles.
Checkout Operations: Efficiently operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process cash, card, and mobile payments.
Stock Replenishment: Unpack deliveries and restock shelves, ensuring products are correctly priced and rotated by expiration date.
Store Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized sales floor by tidying displays, cleaning spills, and managing waste.
Promotional Support: Stay informed about current sales and loyalty programs to provide accurate advice and recommendations to customers.
Safety & Security: Monitor for potential shoplifting and adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, especially in food handling areas.
Requirements & Skills
Communication: Excellent verbal skills to interact professionally with diverse customers and team members.
Mathematics: Strong basic math skills for handling cash and managing inventory.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy stock (up to 30–50 lbs).
Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Experience: Prior experience in retail or customer service is preferred but not always required for entry-level roles.
