Core Responsibilities
Transactions: Scanning goods, processing payments (cash, credit/debit, gift cards), and issuing receipts.
Customer Service: Greeting customers, answering questions, providing information on procedures, and resolving complaints.
Cash Handling: Balancing the cash register at the start and end of shifts, maintaining accurate cash counts, and managing returns/exchanges.
Store Maintenance: Keeping the checkout area, counters, and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and stocked.
Safety/Compliance: Following all store security procedures, verifying age for restricted items (alcohol/tobacco), and maintaining price accuracy.
Product Knowledge: Familiarizing with products to assist with inquiries, sales, or cross-selling items.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience as a cashier, retail sales associate, or in customer service is preferred.
Math Skills: Strong basic math skills for handling money and making change accurately.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with Electronic Cash Register (ECR) or POS systems.
Communication: Excellent verbal communication to interact professionally with customers.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift items, as needed.
Efficiency: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Work Environment: Cafe', Restaurants, or Action stations.
Schedule: Often requires flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Role Type: Typically reports to a Restaurant manager or supervisor.
