JOB VACANCY – DEMI CHEF DE PARTIE – PASTRY
Location: Colombo | Full-Time
Grand Chancellor Kitchens is looking for an experienced and motivated Demi Chef de Partie – Pastry to join our Pastry & Bakery team.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out and oversee the daily production of cakes, pastries, desserts, bakery items and savouries
Ensure all products are prepared according to established recipes, portion sizes, quality and presentation standards
Assist the Chef de Partie and senior chefs in organising daily pastry production
Guide and supervise Commis Chefs and junior kitchen staff during production
Monitor baking, finishing, decorating and presentation to maintain consistent product quality
Ensure correct handling, labelling, storage and rotation of ingredients and finished products
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, sanitation and food safety
Monitor ingredient usage and help minimise wastage and unnecessary production losses
Ensure pastry equipment and work areas are properly used, cleaned and maintained
Assist with stock requirements, production planning and preparation for special orders when required
Take responsibility for the pastry section in the absence of a senior chef when assigned
Requirements
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant pastry/bakery experience, preferably including experience at Commis I level or above
Good practical knowledge of cakes, pastries, desserts, baking and finishing techniques
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned production
Ability to guide and supervise junior pastry staff
Good understanding of food hygiene, food safety and kitchen procedures
Ability to follow standard recipes and maintain consistent quality
Good organisational and time-management skills
Disciplined, responsible and able to work effectively as part of a team
Willingness to work flexible shifts as required
