About Devagiri:
Established in 1947, Devagiri is one of the oldest tea estates in the Low Grown Elevation; in its heyday it was amongst the top 10.
In January 2022, Devagiri was bought by GB Ceylon Tea Holdings (pvt) Ltd, a Sri Lankan company with UK and US backing, and a British Managing Director. And, under this new ownership, the estate is undergoing transformational change across both agriculture and manufacturing.
The owners have developed an export brand with ambitious growth targets. And they have recently begun “local sales” in the Galle District. Though it is early days, they have already secured 40 buyers and they are looking for a high energy sales executive to take on the task of growing this further, to establish a consistent revenue stream for the business.
The Role:
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, is confident in speaking English, takes pride in building customer relationships, is commercially minded, and is not afraid of hard work.
Key Responsibilities: #
- Build relationships with small local shop owners across the Galle
- District and develop regular monthly orders.
- Spend most of your time on the road visiting shops, finding new customers, and delivering tea to existing buyers.
- Plan your own routes and manage your time independently.
- Be confident and friendly with customers, while staying focused on sales and business growth.
- Keep clear records of targets, visits, and sales using Excel spreadsheets.
- Represent the Devagiri brand with humility, professionalism, and integrity.
About You:
We are looking for someone who enjoys selling and is excited about building new revenue for Devagiri. You should have:
1) A passion for sales
2) A driving licence
3) A-Level qualifications
4) Confident spoken English- this is essential because you will work directly with the British Managing Director
5) Good mathematical skills
6) Strong Google Drive and Excel skills
The ability to travel to Devagiri within a reasonable time
Salary & Development:
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with a British business leader and be part of a rapidly growing company with ambitious plans for sales growth both locally and internationally.
For the right person, there will be opportunities to grow and take on greater responsibility as the business expands.
With commission, the starting salary will be 80,000. This should increase to 100,000 within 3 months and has the genuine potential to increase to 200,000 over time.
