Job Summary
The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in daily food preparation and service, ensuring all dishes meet The Coffee Craft’s quality, hygiene, and presentation standards. This role is ideal for a motivated junior chef who wants to learn, grow, and work in a fast-paced café & restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
• Assist in preparation of ingredients (cutting, marinating, portioning, stocking)
• Cook assigned dishes according to recipes and instructions
• Support service during busy hours (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
• Ensure consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation
Kitchen Operations
• Follow instructions from the Head Chef and senior kitchen staff
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas
• Assist with basic inventory checks and stock rotation (FIFO)
• Help with receiving and storing kitchen supplies properly
Hygiene & Safety
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
• Maintain personal hygiene and proper kitchen uniform
• Ensure safe handling of food, knives, and equipment
• Report any issues with ingredients, equipment, or cleanliness immediately
Teamwork & Attitude
• Work cooperatively with kitchen and service staff
• Be punctual, disciplined, and willing to learn
• Accept feedback and improve skills continuously
• Support a positive and respectful kitchen environment
Requirements & Qualifications
• Basic culinary knowledge or kitchen experience preferred
• Culinary school certificate is an advantage but not mandatory
• Ability to work long hours and stand for extended periods
• Willingness to learn Vietnamese and café-style cuisine
• Good attitude, discipline, and reliability
Working Hours
• 8:00AM to 10:00PM
• Weekly off day as assigned
