Senior operational role supporting the Country Manager, responsible for leading coordinators and managing volunteers across all programmes. Oversees volunteer bookings, orientation, daily supervision, wellbeing, performance, and logistics, including the organisation and scheduling of projects and volunteer placements. Manages programme delivery, stakeholder relationships, guesthouse operations, airport transfers, and reporting. Leads staff rotas, training, performance management, and discipline, while ensuring safety, compliance, and operational standards are maintained.
The position leads all aspects of staff management, including recruitment, training, rotas, performance management, staff wellbeing, disciplinary procedures, and dismissal processes where required. The Assistant Manager also oversees volunteer management end-to-end, from bookings and orientation through to daily supervision, wellbeing, performance evaluation, and feedback collection.
Programme and project management form a core part of the role, including development and delivery of volunteer programmes, relationship management with partners and government stakeholders, monitoring project effectiveness, equipment management, and budget control. The Assistant Manager is also responsible for guesthouse operations, transport management, vehicle safety, and maintenance.
In addition, the role requires strong leadership, communication, organisational skills, and a high level of personal accountability. The Assistant Manager is responsible for safety across volunteers, staff, premises, vehicles, and equipment, and must maintain constant availability, professionalism, and commitment to the organisation. Monthly business and charity reports are produced to provide oversight of operational and financial performance.
