We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant for our gems and jewellery business. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in accounting and finance, preferably within the jewellery or retail industry, and must be proficient in QuickBooks accounting software. This role involves handling daily financial operations, bookkeeping, inventory costing, and management reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate accounting records for all financial transactions related to the gems and jewellery business.
Record daily sales, purchases, expenses, and receipts in QuickBooks.
Prepare and reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and accounts receivable/payable.
Manage stock entries and inventory valuation for gemstones and jewellery items.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Assist with payroll preparation and statutory payments (EPF/ETF, taxes, etc.).
Monitor supplier and customer accounts, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Coordinate with auditors and management for financial reviews.
Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and local financial regulations.
Support management in cost analysis and budgeting.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience (preferably in retail, jewellery, or trading sector).
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (required).
Familiar with MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
Good communication skills in English (knowledge of Sinhala/Tamil is an advantage).
