ACCOUNTANT
Ceylon Academy of Gemmology Science (CAGS), Sri Lanka’s leading gemmology academy, is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is confident in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls within a dynamic and expanding organisation.
Key Responsibilities
◆ Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations
◆ Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, budgets, and cash-flow reports
◆ Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payroll, and petty cash
◆ Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate ledger records
◆ Ensure timely completion of statutory payments, tax submissions, and other compliance requirements
◆ Monitor expenses, revenue, and financial performance
◆ Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors and financial institutions
◆ Develop and maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures
◆ Provide financial insights and recommendations to management
◆ Supervise and guide junior accounts staff where required
Qualifications & Experience
◆ Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field
◆ AAT-qualified or part-qualified in CIMA, ACCA, CA Sri Lanka, or an equivalent professional qualification
◆ Minimum 2–5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
◆ Previous experience in a Senior Accountant or similar supervisory role will be an advantage
◆ Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, financial reporting, and compliance
◆ Proficiency in MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
◆ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
◆ Excellent numerical accuracy, analytical ability, and attention to detail
◆ Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
◆ High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional responsibility
